'The Witcher' Author Andrzej Sapkowski Confirms Finishing a New Book

There's more on the way for "The Witcher" as author Andrzej Sapkowski has confirmed that he has finished writing another book.

In an interview with a French magazine, Sapkowski said, "I have finished the book."

The author further noted that it took him around two years to finish his latest novel. However, he likewise confirmed that he currently has no plans for what comes after it.

As of writing, the name of the new book has not been made public. Specific release dates for both the Polish novel and its English translation have not been revealed as of press time as well.

According to a report, the new book is expected to be published in Polish by the end of the year. An English translation of the book, on the other hand, is expected to be available in 2025.

The report likewise points out that the main storyline of "The Witcher" ended in 1999 with the publishing of "The Lady of the Lake." However, Sapkowski went back to writing about Geralt of Rivia, the main character of the novels, in 2013 when he published "Seasons of Storms."

It should be noted that this book is set during the time period of the earlier short stories. The report speculates that the new novel will exist at some point within the existing timeline as Sapkowski previously confirmed he had no plans of writing a sequel.

'The Witcher'

"The Witcher" literary series is composed of a total of six novels and 15 short stories, all of which have been written by Sapkowski. The story of the novels and shorts stories follow Geralt of Rivia, a monster hunter known as a "witcher."

The books have become the basis of the video game series of the same name by CD Projekt Red. The first game in the video game series was released in 2007. The fourth installment is in development as of press time.

While it has been confirmed that Geralt of Rivia will appear in the fourth installment, the character's voice actor said in an interview that the story will not revolve around him. This is in contrast to the previous games, which focused heavily on the monster hunter.

The story of "The Witcher" is also the basis of the Netflix series of the same name. The series initially starred Henry Cavill as Geralt for the first three seasons. For season four, Liam Hemsworth is taking over the role.
