Witcher 4 Will Reportedly Include Geralt of Rivia—But Will the Game Revolve Around Him?

In 2022, CD Projekt Red announced that the next game in The Witcher series is already in the works. While details of the fourth game have yet to be confirmed, the voice actor of its main character has provided valuable insights on what to expect.

Doug Cockle, who is the voice actor of Geralt of Rivia, revealed that Geralt will feature in the fourth game. However, he likewise also said that Geralt will not be the focus of the story.

In a video that is available on YouTube, Cockle said that he cannot say much about the upcoming game. Despite this, he stated that the game will not be about Geralt of Rivia.

According to a report, Geralt's voice actor said, "What we know is that Geralt will be part of the game."

"We just don't know how much, and the game won't focus on Geralt, so it's not about him this time," he added.

Cockle likewise claimed that he does not know who the fourth game will be about. However, he quipped that "This is the thing, so I could be lying through my teeth. But I'm not, or am I?"

What is Known So Far

While speculations continue to swirl about the game, what has been confirmed is that it will not be "The Witcher 3 in new clothing," according to CD Projekt Red joint CEO Michał Nowakowski.

According to another report, the upcoming game will use Unreal Engine 5. Previous games in the series made use of the company's in-house RedEngine.

The Witcher Series

CD Projekt Red's The Witcher franchise is based on the book series of the same name by Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski. This fantasy action RPG has, so far, focused on the story of Geralt of Rivia, who is a monster hunter.

The first game in the main series was released in 2007, and it was followed by The Witcher 2: Assassin of Kings in 2011. Three years later, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was released.

The franchise also includes a number of spin-off games, including Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales and The Witcher: Monster Slayer.

In 2019, the first season of the television series adaptation was released. Released on Netflix, the first season starred Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia. Cavill went on to reprise the role for the second and third season.

For season four, Cavill will be replaced by Liam Hemsworth.
