The PlayStation 4's Safe Mode is your go-to option when it comes to troubleshooting a variety of issues. Unfortunately, it is easy to enter and be stuck in the so-called "Safe Mode loop," making it difficult to get out of limbo and resume playing.
If you experience this, no need to worry – there are a few things you can try to get this thing resolved. Here are some of them:
Restart Your Console
This is the very first thing that you need to try. You just have to restart your PS4 using option 1 in the Safe Mode menu. You can select this option by pressing X.
Determine If There Are Power Issues
If the aforementioned trick fails, then your next step is to ensure that all of the cables, including both USB and HDMI connections, are working as intended. If one of them is either is broken or failing, then you might want to consider replacing it as soon as possible. However, if you are 100% confident that the cables and connections are working properly, just try power cycling your console.
Updating is Key
If the second method fails, this might be the right time to start updating your PS4's system software. You can do this from the Safe Mode menu. Just select option 3, which is "Update System Software," and then press X. From there, click "Update Using Internet" and press X. You will just have to follow the instructions you can see on the screen to continue. If this still does not work, then go ahead and select option 7 called "Initialize PS4 (Reinstall System Software)." Now, press X and follow the instructions on the screen.
Rebuild All Corrupted Files
Another trick you can do is checking all corrupted files, which can sometimes be the main reason why you are experiencing the Safe Mode loop. All you have to do is select option 5 on the Safe Mode menu, "Rebuild Database," and press X. Once done, you will start building a new database for your console without the burden of affecting all saved data.
