A new trailer for Absolver debuted on Friday offering fans an early look at the character customization options in Sloclap’s upcoming online fighting game. The video isn’t long, with a run time under two minutes. But it does offer a helpful breakdown of the customization options in Absolver, including details on how players will earn new cosmetic items for their absolvers.
The new character customization trailer actually proved to be significantly more informative than one might expect from a video of its ilk. We didn’t get promises of endless customization options or close-ups of DLC costumes. The latest Absolver trailer provided a teensy bit of backstory, an early look at the character creation screen, in-game lore for the differences in each character’s appearance and explanations for acquiring new bits of gear. All while also showing off a diverse array of items from Sloclap’s upcoming fighting game.
Players will begin Absolver with relatively nondescript characters. There are a handful of basic masks, none of which look particularly impressive, a few different hair styles and a handful of tattered outfits to choose from. But players will continue to accrue new cosmetics throughout the game; from fallen foes, achieving personal milestones and winning big fights. Clothing runs the gamut, from new shirts and pants to arm accessories, gloves and masks. Each item has its own unique stats, giving players some incentive to prioritize function over form. And making it all the more impressive when somebody delivers a beating in clothing without any significant bonuses.
For more on the character customization options we’ll see in Absolver, including early looks at some of the gear we’ll be able to unlock, take a few minutes to watch the gameplay trailer embedded below.
