5 Indie Games to Look Forward to This 2025

Many indie developers have announced and shared the trailers of their latest work coming to the different storefronts in various platforms.

From sequels to new games dropping soon in the market, here are some of the best picks for 2025.

'Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault'

While looking like a cozy game, "Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault" combines the best of the cozy genre and the action platformer adventure experiences into one game. Developed by Digital Sun and 11 bit studios, this new entry brings a new expedition and combines it with managing one's store using its iconic shopkeeping mechanics, letting players venture into new worlds, and fight against enemies along the way.

The latest trailer of the game confirmed that it will be arriving this summer on the Windows PC platform via Steam. In this release, "Moonlighter 2" is bringing more roguelike mechanics to the title, expanding on a more complex gameplay for fans to enjoy.

'Speedrunners 2'

A recent showcase revealed that one iconic indie's sequel is making its way to PCs this year, with "Speedrunners 2: King of Speed" set to debut another challenge for gamers.

The competitive platformer is back for round two, and players are yet again brought into the arena against friends to outrace them with more powers, tricks, traps, and more to come across in the game.

'Tales of the Shire'

An upcoming cozy game from Weta Workshop is taking a page from the iconic stories of J.R.R. Tolkien, particularly with his beloved characters from the Shire taking center stage. "Tales of the Shire" brings the world of "The Lord of the Rings," which focuses on Middle-earth's most lovable dwellers, giving players the chance to live their lives as a hobbit.

"Tales of the Shire" is coming this July 29, 2025, to PC via Steam, PS5, Xbox Series S and X, and the Switch.

'inKONBINI: One Store. Many Stories'

A new indie simulation game is taking players into a whole new narrative where they get to play in a single-player sim as college student Mayato Hayakawa as he tries to balance his life in a small-town convenience store.

The game, "inKONBINI: One Store. Many Stories," from Nagai Industries is set in the 1990s and allows players to experience meaningful engagements where every decision leads to different impacts on one's track.
