Age of Empires IV: Anniversary Edition, the popular RTS game developed by Relic Entertainment, has received a new update recently. Aside from changes for the Hardest AI, there are two events lined up for players to participate in.
The first is called the Lunar Faire running from now until February 9. Playing Age of Empires IV during the event gives players Lucky Envelopes that contain new portraits, coat-of-arms, and a rabbit monument to celebrate the lucky Year of the Rabbit.
After the Lunar Faire has concluded, another event will take its place. From February 10 to February 15, players will again be treated with limited-time goodies by logging into Age of Empires IV during the said dates. These log-in rewards include new portraits, a deer monument, and new coat-of-arms.
Developer Relic Entertainment also announced that it will be revealing the starting dates for Ranked Season Four soon. In the meantime, players can get a glimpse of the new content coming in Season Four by signing up for the Age Insider Program.
To gain access to the program, players must have an active Xbox Live account; don’t worry, signing up for an account is free. Furthermore, it's important to remember that in order to take part in the program, players must be at least 18 years old. They must sign a non-disclosure agreement as well.

- I joined the Public Update Preview (PUP) and lost my game progress!
- All Public Update Previews (PUPs) utilize a temporary Player Profile. Your custom settings, campaign progress, achievements, medals, etc will not carry over from the LIVE game and into the PUP. Similarly, any progress or settings made while on the PUP build will not carry over into the LIVE game.
- What platforms are supported for the Public Update Preview?
- Currently our Public Update Previews are only available through the Steam platform.
- Can I stream playing the Public Update Preview?
- Yes! You can stream or capture footage freely from the Public Update Preview builds.
- Public Update Preview builds are just what we say: a preview. This means that there could be changes between the PUP build and its official release to be mindful of. Please at least note that your footage is from the preview build when you make videos. Thank you!
- What differences can I expect in the preview from the LIVE game?
- The Public Update Preview is a different build from the live version of the game, as such there could be a wide variety of differences. Below are some common differences that you will see in any given preview.
- Preview builds use a temporary player profile to avoid overwriting your existing profile data
- You can only matchmake, see/join lobbies, and play multiplayer matches against other players who are in the preview
- Special events and challenge progress will not carry over to your full profile, neither will campaign progress, options, or settings
- Replays will not be compatible with the current LIVE version of the game
