Age of Empires IV will be holding a summer party event tomorrow, June 15. The upcoming event called Season Five Map Monsters: Summer Party Edition is a mouthful, but it's only fitting because it has a lot to offer.
New Event
From June 15 to June 20, the elusive Wild Man and mysterious Dragon Turtle will appear in select areas. The former on the Black Forest and Marshland maps, while the latter in the seas of Boulder Bay and Archipelago.
The first villager to approach the Wild Man or Dragon Turtle during a match will receive a special boon that grants a permanent and significant increase in gathering rates.
In addition, players can complete challenges to unlock event-exclusive rewards:
- All Your Base
- Raze 10 buildings in a multiplayer or skirmish match.
- Unlocks a Taunt.
- Castles in the Sand
- Build a Keep in any multiplayer or skirmish match and win the match.
- Unlocks a Coat of Arms Sigil.
- Day at the Beach
- Win a multiplayer or skirmish match on a water map: Archipelago, Boulder Bay, Continental, Four Lakes, MegaRandom, Nagari, Oasis, Warring Islands, and/or Waterholes.
- Unlocks a Profile Icon.
- Delivering Snacks
- Receive the Dragon Turtle's Boon with a Fishing Boat in a Skirmish or Multiplayer match.
- Unlocks a Profile Icon.
- Feed Him for a Lifetime
- Research Extended Lines and use fishing boats to gather 2000 food.
- Unlocks a Coat of Arms Sigil.
- Feeling Sheepish
- Herd sheep to a building 7 times in a multiplayer or skirmish match as the French.
- Unlocks a Profile Icon.
- No Point Fighting the Tide
- Destroy 10 enemy ships in multiplayer or skirmish.
- Unlocks a Taunt.
- Pass the Bouncer
- Receive the Wild Man's Boon with a Villager in a Skirmish or Multiplayer match.
- Unlocks a Profile Icon.
- Water Fight!
- Research Swivel Cannon for Springald Ships.
- Unlocks a Coat of Arms Sigil.
- Wouldn't Be a Party Without You
- Reach 200 unit population in a skirmish or multiplayer match.
- Unlocks a Landmark.
New Season
Competitive Age of Empires IV players will be happy to know that a new season of ranked play commences on June 16 at 1 p.m. EST. The upcoming season is interesting because it is the first time that the Marshlands will be included in the map pool. Furthermore, maps that haven't been used in a while, such as The Pit, will also make an appearance in Season Five.
Plus, the Wild Man and Dragon Turtle can be found on the Boulder Bay and Marshland maps for both solo and team ranked matches.
