Age Of Wonders: Planetfall's Newest Expansion Is Finally Here

Age of Wonders: Planetfall released its latest expansion in Invasion. This one brings new content like new campaign maps, a new game mode, and even a wide range of environmental catastrophes. The Invasion expansion is offered at $19.99 and is available for the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The PC version in particular now allows Mac users to play for the first time.

Publisher Paradox Interactive said in a statement that Invasion is set to be “the most expansive addition” to Planetfall. It introduces two new races, the first of which is the Shakarn, a playable race. This is a race of lizardmen who stop at nothing to destroy everything in their quest to rule the universe. The second are the Therians, a mysterious faction of NPCs that combine their very own DNA with animals to get the advantage. Depending on how players treat them, the Therians can either be a friend or foe.

Here is the other new additions that arrived with the Invasion expansion:

• Additional Campaign Missions
• Voidbringer Invasions
  • In this one, your world has been invaded by the Voidbringers, a race composed of trans-dimensional beings. They have arrived on your planet through beacons and have deployed armies of soldiers that destroy everything in their path.
  • Players can either end the threat by destroying the beacons or submit themselves and conquer the world under the void.
• World Events
  • The expansion brings 27 global events that randomly affect the world. These include events like meteor showers all the way to supernovas.
  • Players need to be able to adapt and quickly change strategy as the events can affect the game in a drastic manner.
• Conquered Worlds
  • This is a new world type that has one player start with a large empire. Other players then need to form a team and bring down that one player.
• New Locations
  • A total of four new exploration sites have been added. These are:
    • War Docks
    • Therian Alteration Labs
    • Cosmic Manipulation Center
    • Resonance Halls

Age of Wonders: Planetfall is a turn-based strategy game and the fifth in the Age of Wonders series. Invasion is the second expansion to be launched for Planetfall following Revelations. A yet to be titled third expansion is set to be released in Fall 2020.
