Deep Silver and Volition haven’t had much to say about Agents of Mayhem, which pits a team of spies against a “cabal of criminal masterminds,” but the game’s newly announced release date confirms we won’t be waiting much longer to see Agents of Mayhem in person. And a new trailer for the project offered another look at the unreleased project on Monday morning.
As some players may remember, Agents of Mayhem will inhabit the same universe as Volition’s beloved Saints Row franchise; a series of open-world titles that gave players control over an organization during its absurdly amazing rise from street gang to full-fledged political party. But the moment to moment action in AoM won’t share much in common with the Saints’ crime sprees. There are certainly some similarities, like a plethora of guns and over-the-top super powers, but the tone and story will reflect our status as Good Guys™ this time around.
Unfortunately, we still don’t know what sparked the latest showdown between MAYHEM and LEGION. The new Agents of Mayhem trailer offers the names of each organization’s leader, along with early looks at some of the weapons, vehicles and heroes we’ll have access to during the campaign. But a new Facebook post from the AoM dev team, revealing the game’s August 2017 launch timeline, does at least confirm the full story is only a few months away.
