One of the best Xbox console exclusive games will soon be available on PlayStation. Remedy Entertainment’s critically acclaimed title, Alan Wake, is getting remastered. The remaster will release on October 5 on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The PC version will only be available on Epic Game Store.
PlayStation Features
The game was announced a couple of days ago. However, a new trailer was released just yesterday during the PlayStation Showcase Event. The developer revealed tons of information about the game via a PS blog:
- PlayStation 5 will run the game at 4K 60 FPS
- PS4 Pro will have two options:
- You can choose the Performance Mode, which runs the game at 60 FPS at a lower resolution
- Or you can choose the Quality Mode, which runs the game at 4K 30 FPS.
- The base PlayStation 4 will run the game at 30 FPS.
The developer has confirmed that the remaster will support DualSense’s adaptive trigger feature. It will give different feedback depending on the gun you are using.
Overall Improvements
The remaster of the action thriller game will feature tons of improvements. You can expect 4K textures, improved visuals, better character models, and superior cinematics. It will also contain both expansion packs, The Signal and The Writer, released on the original game.
My Take on the Remaster
I won’t lie. Even with all these improvements, the remaster doesn’t seem that substantial. This feels more like a “spit-and-polish” remaster than a proper remaster. If you haven’t played the original game, then go ahead and purchase it. Alan Wake is an amazing game, and everyone should try it out. However, if you have finished the original game, I recommend waiting for actual comparison videos first.
You can now pre-order the game for $29.99 for both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. The game’s webpage for Epic Games Store is also live.
