Sony depends heavily on its big collection of first-party titles to sell its platform. It has been doing that since PlayStation 1 and will continue to do that even in this generation. The ninth-generation console, PlayStation 5, is less than a year old and we already had many AAA exclusive titles released on it, from Returnal to Demon’s Souls Remake to Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, and more. The giant game publisher has more coming, which we have mentioned those titles below:
Horizon Forbidden West
The sequel to the surprise hit, Horizon Zero Dawn , is only a couple of months away. The game will launch for both PS4 and PS5 on February 18, 2022. The sequel takes Aloy to the dangerous lands of the forbidden west. Her goal is to find the source of a plague that’s killing everything it touches.
Gran Turismo 7
Sony has been releasing at least one Gran Turismo game in every generation. It’s not gonna be different this time either. Gran Turismo 7 is the next title in the long-running franchise and is expected to launch on March 4, 2022, for both PS4 and PS5. It is the only GT game to arrive on both past and current-gen consoles.
God of War Ragnarök
God of War Ragnarök is arguably the most anticipated game on the list. It’s a sequel to the critically acclaimed God of War (2018). The game continues the journey of Kratos and Atreus after Ragnarok has begun. The sequel will be launched on both PS4 and PS5 in 2022. No actual release date has been revealed yet.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
Alright, previous games on the list were coming next year. But this one is quite far away. Spider-Man 2 will release exclusively for PS5 in 2023, assuming that there are no major delays. The games will have both Peter Parker and Miles Morales, and one of the villains, Venom.
Marvel’s Wolverine
Marvel’s Wolverine is also in the distant future. The game is being developed by Insomniac Games, the same developer behind Spider-Man 2. It’s currently in early development and will be released after the Spider-Man game is out the door. So don’t expect it to come out at least before 2024. The game was announced during the recent PlayStation Showcase event via a cinematic trailer.
