Fans of the horror video game genre will be very happy today. A remake of the 1992 title, Alone in the Dark, is all but confirmed. Its existence was leaked today by Belgian retailer, Smartoys; the now-removed listing went live earlier than intended.
The Leak and Screenshots
The existence of the remake was further corroborated by the reputable leaker, @AestheticGamer1. The leaker posted multiple screenshots of the game and claimed the remake will be similar to that of Resident Evil 2. He further claimed that the game will be officially announced today at THQ Nordic, which will go live in less than an hour of writing this article.
About the Leaked Game
The leaker just didn’t stop there. He revealed tons of information about the game. The remake’s story is being written by the writer of SOMA and Amnesia: The Dark Descent. The game is inspired heavily by Southern Gothic Horror and Lovecraft.
There will be two playable characters, namely, Edward Carnby and Emily Hartwood; their campaign will overlap with each other. The game takes place in the Deep South in the 1920s. There will be survival horror elements, scarce supplies, and backtracking.
While the remake seems highly likely, other information could still be inaccurate. It is safe to wait for an official announcement before getting all excited. Meanwhile, you can try out previous Alone in the Dark games for cheap as the series is currently having a sale on Steam. So, get them if you are interested.
