Several Android smartphones have received Android 6.0 in the last week and the latest to get the most current Google software is the Samsung Galaxy S6 from Sprint. A Sprint subscriber shared on Twitter Thursday that his Galaxy S6 handset has received the software.
Recent reports indicate Samsung will go into overdrive with updating several of its most recent handsets in March. The Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, and Galaxy S6 Edge are expected to update within the month. So far, Android 6.0 has hit the Verizon Galaxy Note 5 . Prior to that, the T-Mobile Galaxy S6 updated in February. But most other U.S. handsets are still waiting for Android 6.0.
Google itself is already looking toward its next endeavors, having released its first preview software for Android N Wednesday.
But now Sprint Galaxy S6 owners can look forward to the wireless update, which will hit handsets with the build number G920PVPU3CPB6. The 1235.87 MB software will take handsets from Android 5.1.1 Lollipop to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. Users can also check for the update manually by accessing Settings > About phone > Software updates > Check for Updates.
The update features all of the standard Marshmallow features, such as Google Now on Tap and Doze Mode, as well as upgrades to Samsung’s TouchWiz interface. Sam Mobile notes users should decrypt their devices before installing Android Marshmallow as they won’t be able to do so after the software is installed. To decrypt the Galaxy S6 users must access Settings > Lock screen and security > Other Security settings.
