Rovio Entertainment, the developer behind the iconic freemium game Angry Birds, has soft-launched a new game in the Philippines called Angry Birds Holiday. While the U.S. release date is not yet known, game developers have a history of soft launching titles in either the Australian, New Zealand or Filipino markets before releasing them in the U.S.
If your iTunes account happens to be based out of the Philippines, then you can download the new Angry Birds Holiday via this link. In the meantime, the next best thing is watching this gameplay video graciously uploaded to YouTube by ArcadeGo, featured below.
As you can see, in your attempts to distract the green piggies from stealing and eating your eggs with tomato baths, you’ll be able to grow crops and produce goods to create a self-sustaining city, with new businesses and areas unlocked as you progress through the game. Like all city builder genre games, the idea is to expand, expand and expand.
Rovio has been having financial trouble lately, and the recent Angry Birds movie successful opening has been a windfall for the company. As Techcrunch reports, the game developer and entertainment company has offices around the world, but due to declining sales, have been forced to layoff significant parts of its staff.
