Apex Legends is launching the Raiders Collection Event on December 7. It’s giving everyone the chance to unlock event-limited pirate-themed Legendary cosmetics for some of the Legends. During the event, players can also enjoy the return of a favorite limited-time mode. The event ends on December 21.
Before we look into the cosmetics, the returning game mode is none other than Winter Express. It offers three squads the opportunity to board and then capture the World’s Edge train. The only difference is that this time, players can choose their loadout before they board the train. How fun is that?
For the duration of the Collection Event, each of the Legendary skins comes with a complementary weapon, either in the collection or the prize track. Players can earn 1,600 points per day with the challenges refreshing daily. There are also stretch challenges that reward players with four unique badges if they complete them during the event. In addition, all the challenges stack with the Battle Pass, so players can complete several at once.
Overall, players can look forward to a new set of 24 themed and limited-time cosmetics. By the way, once players unlock all the 24 collectibles, they receive Wattson’s electric Heirloom known as the “Energy Reader.”
Balance Changes
The new event arrives in the game courtesy of an update that introduced interesting balancing changes. The Seer, for example, has its Focus of Attention detonation delay lowered from 1.6 to 1.4 seconds. In a previous hotfix, this was increased but was found to be “a little too sluggish.” Another is the Splatter Rounds whose increased magazine capacity is removed. This was done because it was seen to be a bit too strong.
Balancing changes were also made to Arc Stars. Since the high damage potential combined with slow was indeed effective, the stick slow was removed. However, this resulted in some degenerate play patterns. To make things a bit better, the slow was brought back in exchange for lower damage potential.
