Developer Respawn is bringing back Apex Legends to the past with the Season 23 update by letting players experience Launch Royale mode for a limited time.
The release of the Launch Royale mode brings the game back to more-or-less the same state it was back at the time that it was first released. Publisher Electronic Arts described the limited time mode as dropping players into the original Apex Legends.
Apex Legends Update
This is that it brings with it old school weapons, Legends, abilities, ruleset, and map where everything about the game started. Electronic Arts noted that this includes not having EVO Armor or any Ability Upgrades.
Apex Legends is becoming one of the currently available live-service games that is trying to cater its updates more toward its longtime fans and players.
Another example of this is Jagex, which introduced Old School Runescape which gives players a way to feel the original game.
Blizzard also did something similar when it launched World of Warcraft Classic that brought nostalgia back from the grave. Fortnite also released an update recently that seemingly remixes versions of old and current seasons, according to The Gamer.
The latest Apex Legends update will also introduce a rework of Lifeline and transform her from pure support into an aggressive healer with great mobility. Epic Games is also slightly reworking the support class in general.
This is something similar to what the studio has done to the Recon and Controller classes in previous updates that were released.
Soon, support classes will be able to move at full speed even if they are using healing consumables and will be able to revive players 25% quicker.
Going Back to Its Roots
The upcoming update to the game will also bring the addition of more than 25 game-changing lootable items known as Rift Relics.
These items take the form of purple loot Ticks that can drop devastating weapons as well as a new type of Survival Item; Boost Kits, Game Spot said.
When this item is equipped in the player's Survival Item slot, it will provide them with various special abilities. One example is the Void Reflect Boost Kit which causes players who are about to be downed to suddenly phase into the void.
There is also a new universal melee weapon that is being added to Apex Legends; Raptor's Claw. This is a cosmetic item that can be used by any Legend that will make them look flashy while taking down an enemy, according to the PlayStation Blog.
