What do you get when you put an RPG in a world simulation? You get the new game Archmage Rises which is now on Steam Early Access. You can enjoy the 15% off introductory offer until May 2. This game offers you the freedom that you usually get from a typical tabletop RPG.
Fans of old school RPGs should be happy to know that one of the inspirations for the game was none other than Raistlin Majere of Dragonlance. Basically, the game’s core concept is to start from humble beginnings and progress to become the most powerful and influential mage in the world.
RPG Elements
As mentioned, the game is first and foremost about role-playing. Players get to create their own story and experience real consequences from decisions they make. As the game progresses, they gain power by doing things like exploring dungeons or discovering artifacts of ancient power. Players have total freedom and can make good or evil choices, or even something in between.
While it does have many elements you would expect from an RPG, one feature players can look forward to is NPC interaction. They can learn the personalities and motivations of these NPCs, and can even conduct business with them, do something romantic, or even kill them. Each NPC is unique and can remember every interaction. These same NPCs can even spread news about players.
Live in the World
Every game generates a new world with dozens of towns, thousands of NPCs, and a unique history. There are also treasures, items, historical characters, and monster lairs. The thing about this game is that the world moves forward with or without player involvement. Kingdoms are going to rise and fall and monster threats can grow and expand. Players can also see NPCs grow, marry, bear children, and die.
