We know a surprising amount of spoilers for the next season of Arrow , the latest of which suggests Ollie could be working with, or against, a new vigilante in Star City. TV Line describes the new character as a “cocksure/reckless ex-Marine turned vigilante.” This is the second mystery character we’ve heard will join the cast in a recurring role for Season 5. The first is an “irrepressibly charming” villain who will “just as easily shake your hand as your best friend or break your neck as your worst enemy.”
Ollie’s going to need all the help he can get after nearly all of Team Arrow, aside from Felicity, left their night jobs in the Season 4 finale. The good thing is there won’t be any big bads like Damien Darhk running around next season. Per Stephen Amell, we can narrow down the field to only non-powered baddies because Season 5 is going back to Arrow’s original roots as the superpowerless superhero show.
We’re also going be seeing a different side of Oliver now that he’s Mayor of Star City, showrunner Wendy Mericle teased to TV Line. "City Hall, that institution, is crucial to our series,” she said.
Season 5 is presumably the last of the flashbacks and we’ll also get some answers to Oliver’s secrets on Lian Yu, and what the Black Canary asked of Oliver before she died.
“It's a very good possibility that we'll finally find out how he got that Bratva tattoo and how he learned to speak Russian. When Oliver says, 'No one can know my secret' and he kills that guy in the pilot, we're going to get some insight into that."
TV Line’s reports offer no distinct qualities to make an educated guess on the identities of the mystery men. Whoever they are, they’ll be joining Curtis Holt (Echo Kellum) who has also been promoted to a series regular for Season 5. Colton Haynes is also reprising his role as Roy, aka The Arsenal.
