The new Warcraft movie won't be the only video game adaptation this year. Brazilian site Omelete shared leaked photos featuring actor Michael Fassbender in his new role in the upcoming Assassin's Creed movie.
The two photos feature Fassbender as both the contemporary Callum Lynch as well as Aguilar, Lynch's ancestor of 15th century Spain. For movie fans that aren't familiar with the video game franchise, one of the main elements to the Assassin's Creed storyline is a pod known as the "Animus," which is capable of unlocking a person's genetic memories to travel back in time as his or her ancestor.
Through the Animus, Lynch discovers that he is a descendant of a secret society, known as the Assassins. Through his ancestor Aguilar, Lynch learns the way of the Assassin's Creed as well as the skills necessary to fight a threat known as the Knights Templar.
Michael Fassbender will be joined by Marion Cotillard (The Dark Knight Rises, Inception), Michael K. Williams (The Wire), Jeremy Irons (Batman v. Superman, The Borgias) and Brendan Gleeson (Edge of Tomorrow). Justin Kurrzel will be directing. Assassin's Creed is set to arrive in theaters Dec. 21.
