There were plenty of doubts whether Assassin's Creed Valhalla would meet player expectations or not. The game is a sequel to the disappointing Assassin's Creed Odyssey, which was released in 2018. Surprisingly, Assassin's Creed Valhalla turned out to be a great video game that tells a gripping story and somewhat brings back the assassin element to the franchise that had lost it since 2019.
If you haven't been keeping up with the reviews, Assassin's Creed Valhalla is being claimed as one of the best games of the year and definitely one of the best games in the Assassin's Creed franchise. Recently, even Ubisoft has confirmed that Assassin's Creed Valhalla has been the best PC launch that the company has seen yet. According to Ubisoft, Assassin's Creed Valhalla's launch has been significantly better than all previous Assassin's Creed titles.
It should also be noted that unlike the previous generation, Valhalla launched on multiple platforms, including the PS5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S, which could have contributed to the big sales figures. Nonetheless, Assassin's Creed Valhalla has been an ambitious title for Ubisoft, and the developer has managed to deliver a fantastic experience for fans.
Valhalla manages to take everything from Assassin's Creed Origins and Assassin's Creed Odyssey and fine-tunes it. The new game has completely gotten rid of loot and annoying side-quests as seen in Assassin's Creed Odyssey, and focuses on the main narrative. While Assassin's Creed Valhalla isn't a perfect Assassin's Creed game, it's a big leap in the right direction of where the franchise needs to be heading. I'm already 60 hours into my playthrough, and the main story hasn't come to an end yet. Moreover, the game has only gotten more interesting. With that being said, stay tuned for our final critique of the game.
Assassin's Creed Valhalla is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and Stadia.
