Sony revealed Astro Bot-themed PlayStation 5 DualSense controllers that will be available for preorder next month.

The new controller comes as PlayStation and Team Asobi are preparing for the much-anticipated release of the latest Astro Bot game on Sept. 6, 2024.

The title will give the quirky little robot more planets to explore, more enemies to defeat, and brand-new skills to master.

Astro Bot DualSense Controller

Many fans are considering Astro's Playroom a brilliant and free demonstration of the DualSense controller's unique features. However, with the new announcement, it seems fitting that PlayStation made an Astro Bot Limited Edition version of the controller.

It seems to have taken design inspiration from Astro Bot and will cost you $80. If you are looking to buy one of these, you should be quick because they only have limited quantities, according to GameSpot.

Keep an eye out for when preorders officially open on Aug. 9, 2024, at 7:00 a.m. PT / 10:00 a.m. ET. The Astro Bot-themed DualSense controller has a white and blue design and features several accents as well as a pair of beady eyes on the touchpad.

Other than the striking and cute design, this limited-edition version of the DualSense controller is still the standard model. This means that players will not have access to back buttons or customizable components found on the DualSense Edge.

When Astro Bot launches later this year, players will be able to explore more than 50 new planets, utilize brand-new power-ups, and discover tons of new secrets. There are also a variety of PlayStation-infused characters to collect, said the PlayStation Blog.

Preorders Will Open Soon

The preorders for the game will be open in various regions, including Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, and the United Kingdom.

Select retailers worldwide will also offer preorders for the limited edition DualSense controller.

The themed controller comes as the DualSense models let players feel the surfaces that Astro runs and slides on during the game. These include grass, sand, and metal as well as the more squishy surfaces, and water too.

PlayStation also said that it doubled down on the controller's adaptive triggers combined with haptic feedback and tied them directly to Astro's powers. One example is when using Barkster, players will feel the thruster ratting against their fingers in sync with the animation.

Being the base model of the DualSense controller, this particular version features haptic feedback, motion controls, and adaptive triggers, according to Polygon.
