A new trailer from the Aven Colony team called “Survival” showcases some of the exotic risks and dangers that come with colonizing alien territory. Check out the Aven Colony “Survival” trailer above.
The “Survival” trailer shows off a lush world of alien beauty with dangerous weather systems like extreme cold or lightning storms, forests full of toxic gas, and desert windstorms. As for the locals, they include giant worm monsters that live in big ugly holes in the earth, floating gaseous blobs, what looks like a leathery tentacled floating butt with horns and a whole bunch of ugly splotches that glom onto the sides of your glorious colony.
You’ll have to plan your colony with care in order to defend against the threats of the hostile alien environment. The “Survival” trailer shows your colony’s defenses, including a spray against the spores, a cannon against the floating butt and images of both colonists and weapons getting decontaminated.
All in all, these are the kinds of intricate management crises you want to encounter as you’re struggling to make it on an alien world. Civilization: Beyond Earth has you managing a whole little empire, but Aven Colony is about one colony, one patch of land, one struggle, one singular alien sensation.
“ Aven Colony is a gripping, rich simulation allowing you to build, customise and maintain your settlement on Aven Prime, a hostile extra-terrestrial world full of deserts, tundras and wetlands light-years from earth,” say the game’s creators.
With both an immersive campaign and sandbox mode, players must build and nurture their colony in order to save humanity’s future. Features include “ oxygen propagation, habitation, employment, electricity and power generation, mining, crime, food cultivation, limited inventory, water, and much more” along with flying drones, a day/night cycle, dozens of different buildings with 2-3 upgrades each, overlay modes that help guide your decisions about the colony’s direction and a story that reveals the secrets of the past civilization on Aven Prime.
