Captain America: Civil War hit theaters on Friday, but fans are already looking ahead to Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 in 2018. It won’t be long until the filming begins, the Russo brothers revealed during an interview with Deadline .
"We start shooting in November, two movies back to back. So we need two scripts ASAP, and we probably started working on them six months ago,” Joe Russo said.
The shooting for both Parts 1 & 2 will take place back to back, although the brothers recently revealed they plan on changing the name of both films because the titles are ‘misleading.’ Avengers: Infinity War is expected to bring clarity to all past events in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, especially after the events of the latest Captain America installment.
"This was part of the reason we embraced Civil War . Is like, yeah, well, let’s shatter The Avengers before we get there. And make it fun to see if and how they come back," Anthony said.
How will the Avengers reform? It’ll be years until we find out, but the Russos slipped up this week when they spoke about Captain Marvel. At a Smithsonian event this week, the Russo’s mentioned Captain Marvel by name. A fan quickly followed up with, “Did you just confirm Captain Marvel?”
“Um....Captain Barvel. Totally different character,” Russo responded. This means we may be seeing Captain Marvel before her MCU solo debut, which was recently pushed back to 2019.
Avengers: Infinity War will shine the spotlight on Thanos, who Anthony calls "the greatest threat that the universe has ever seen.” With 67 characters at their disposal, who else will the Russo brothers include in Infinity War ? Let us know in the comments below!
