Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice costume designer Michael Wilkinson is hyped for fans to see Ben Affleck portray the caped vigilante. Wilkinson told People that Affleck will blow fans away with his performance because he was “born to be” Batman.
Wilkinson described how Affleck reacted to seeing himself in the Batsuit for the first time. The actor apparently was a bit intimidated by the way he looked, which was a good sign to the costume designer.
"[Affleck’s] sexy, he's smart and seductive," Wilkinson told People . "He's strong and a little intimidating and scary, he's a real brawler, there's nothing precious about his Bruce Wayne. He rolls up his sleeves and gets it done."
Seductive is a bit of an understatement. One of the Batman vs. Superman trailers teased an encounter between Bruce Wayne and Diana Prince a.k.a. Wonder Woman, played by Gal Gadot. Wayne didn’t even try to hide the fact he was flirting with her, but Wonder Woman held her own.
Director Zack Snyder spoke to Aussie movie mag FilmInk about the chemistry between Affleck and Gadot during their initial screen test. Affleck was impressed with the way Gadot was able to hold her own and command his attention during the scene.
“Ben was like, ‘Whoa, that girl is something else!’ That was a good sign, because Ben is very tough in the scene, and he’s big and commanding. Anytime that you’re doing a test like that and you’re looking at the other person, you’re thinking, ‘Okay, that’s good stuff.’ That was part of the process, and over time as we got to know Gal, we found out how amazing she is,” Snyder told FilmInk .
