Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice will release an R-rated version for its Blu-Ray. According to Film Ratings, the film superhero flick is Rated R “for sequences of violence.” This likely means we’ll see a director’s cut with more brutal fight scenes between Batman and Superman than its PG-13 theater release.
Superhero fans can thank Deadpool ’s massive box-office success for the R-rated version of Batman vs. Superman. Deadpool made $132.7 its opening weekend, making it the highest grossing R-rated movie debut of all time. Studios will likely attempt to emulate Deadpool ’s success, and push forward with more “adult” superhero films.
Warner Bros Studios has yet to confirm a date for the Batman vs. Superman Blu-ray release, but the film hits theaters this March. Fans will get to see Wonder Woman, Batman and Superman share the big screen for the first time ever. Unfortunately, fans will only get a small teaser of the Justice League. Batman vs. Superman director Zack Snyder recently spoke to Hall of Justice podcast about the Trinity banding together.
“As far as the other Justice League characters go, they play a very small role. It’s really just a whisper they exist,” Snyder told Hall of Justice, referring to Flash, Aquaman and Cyborg. “Except for Wonder Woman, we see her really well. But really the movie is about Batman and Superman. And we really take time with them and we really drill down on the why of them and what they stand for and their beliefs and them as characters. That’s pretty much the why of the movie. But again as I said, it does begin the conversation about these guys are out there.”
Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice starring Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, and Amy Adams as Lois Lane hits theaters March 25.
