Gamers around the world are in for a treat as the Bayonetta & Vanquish 10th Anniversary Bundle is now available for both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. For those who manage to get a copy, be prepared to enjoy the action in 4K and at 60 FPS.
There’s also a little something for collectors, as those who get a copy of the physical release of the first-run Launch Edition get the two games placed inside an embossed SteelBook case that features brand new cover art.
In a press statement, Armature Studio said that they partnered with PlatinumGames and Sega of America in order to port these two games to both consoles. The studio went on to say that they wanted to keep “the stylized, intense action and unique visuals of each game intact while increasing the framerate to 60 FPS, and supporting 4K resolutions on the Xbox One X and PlayStation 4 Pro.” To make this possible Armature made sure to update the two games to the more modern 64-bit architecture. In addition, Armature shared that they “worked closely with the original creators to realize their vision for the games on modern hardware, as well as updating each title with visual improvements and polish.”
For PS4 players in particular, especially those who want to enhance their digital library, they can choose two themes for the bundle. The first is the Bayonetta & Vanquish Theme were they get the original Bayonetta and Vanquish cover art and is offered for all digital pre-orders. The second is the Bayonetta & Vanquish 10th Anniversary Bundle Theme which offers brand new cover art. This one is only available for a limited time for all digital pre-orders, and is also available for purchase, but only until March 3.
Released in 2009, Bayonetta is a single-player 3D action game that uses a third-person perspective. The game's combat system is similar to that of Devil May Cry. Like with any action game, players can use melee and long ranged attacks along with complex combo strings. What made this one stand out was that players were encouraged to get rid of enemies with flair, as much of it as possible.
Vanquish was released in 2010 and made a name for itself by introducing new innovations to the 3D shooter genre. For example, it introduced a gameplay mechanic that reminds one of 2D bullet hell shooters. There are also beat 'em up elements, plus the original sliding-boost mechanic.
