Warm up the hope machine Beyond Good And Evil fans! A rumor has popped up thanks to Destructoid suggesting that Nintendo will step in to fund the long-in-development sequel.
According to the website, two different sources have confirmed that Nintendo will be funding development for Beyond Good And Evil: The Prejudices of Philosophers. The title references the philosophical text Beyond Good And Evil by Friedrich Nietzsche.
One source is Geno, the leaker responsible for revealing the Microsoft IllumiRoom and new Pokemon forms in the past. The second source, an anonymous one, gave several bits of information that lined up with what Geno had to share.
So why would Nintendo step up to finally help finish Beyond Good And Evil 2? It’s a similar situation to what the company did with Bayonetta 2: Nintendo sees a cult favorite game that they can get an exclusive sequel for. This will hopefully help drive the sale of NX consoles, or whatever this rumored Beyond Good And Evil sequel ends up on.
To further add fuel to the sequel rumor flames, developer Double Fine released a video where they play the original Beyond Good And Evil game with director Michel Ancel. At the 48:40 mark, Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto’s name gets dropped in a strange way. “It’s good enough for Miyamoto,” Double Fine’s Tim Schafer says, as if he knows some information that isn’t publicly announced yet.
So what do you think? Would having an exclusive Beyond Good And Evil 2 make you more interested in Nintendo’s next console? What other game sequels would you like to see Nintendo pick up? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
