One last developer diary for Birthdays the Beginning is out now, with commentary from Harvest Moon and Birthdays creator Yasuhiro Wada, featuring early footage of the optional content being prepared for Birthdays the Beginning. Wada makes it clear the game’s story mode will likely be its primary draw, but Toybox Inc. has some extra activities for those who’d like a break from breeding new, rare and/or legendary creatures.
Previous developer diaries for the upcoming sandbox game focused on Birthdays’ terraforming, temperature and extinction mechanic, each of which will play a major role in the game’s story mode. Wada used the final addition to his three-part video series to answer a fan’s question about optional content, revealing two more features from the game in the process.
According to the Toybox Inc. founder, Birthdays the Beginning will let players continue to explore after the campaign is over, attempting to revive their favorite species and/or spawn undiscovered creatures. The game will also include a Challenge Mode that asks players to generate a specific creature as quickly as possible. Birthdays the Beginning will introduce secondary limitations in some scenarios and record your completion times to encourage friendly competition.
