Developer Inti Creates has just announced that it will be releasing Blaster Master Zero and its sequel Blaster Master Zero 2 for the PlayStation 4 via the PlayStation Store.
Blaster Master Zero and Blaster Master Zero 2 follow the adventures of Jason Frudnick, a robotics prodigy, and Eve, a mysterious girl that has a connection with an armored tank named SOPHIA III. Together, they journey to defeat the mutants that have overrun a post-apocalyptic and ice age Earth that they currently live in. The gameplay mostly revolves around gunplay, using the SOPHIA III’s numerous weapons to defeat enemies, clear levels and move towards the next challenge. Boss battles, different areas, and the usual 16 bit graphics can all be found in this shooting and sidescrolling title.
The run-and-gun metroidvania was initially released for the Nintendo 3DS and the Nintendo Switch in March of 2017. Two years later, it has been released for the PC via Steam. As for its sequel, Blaster Master Zero 2 was launched for the Nintendo Switch in March of 2019 with a Steam release following in November of the same year. Both games boast critical and commercial success, with an average score of 78 on Metacritic and a Very Positive Rating on its Steam page. Blaster Master Zero currently retails for $9.99 both on Steam and the Nintendo eShop for the Nintendo Switch and the 3DS.
Blaster Master Zero and Blaster Master Zero 2 will launch for the PlayStation 4 via the PlayStation Store on June 29 for $9.99. Also, games publisher and distributor Limited Run Games has announced that they will be releasing limited print physical editions for Blaster Master Zero and Blaster Master Zero 2 for both the PlayStation 4 and the Nintendo Switch. A Classic edition will also retail for $54.99 for either game, which includes a copy of the game, a retro cartridge sleeve to fit the game case, a reversible poster, and the original game soundtrack. Pre-orders will open on May 29 at 10:00 AM EST and will run for four weeks.
