culation about the Bloodborne 2 release date is going to be at an all-time high for the next few days, thanks to new comments from FromSoftware producers Teruyuki Toriyama and Masaaki Yamagiwa that suggest we could see a Bloodborne sequel -- or another major addition to the FromSoftware catalog -- before the end of 2017. Here’s what we know.
In a new interview with 4Gamer, a popular outlet among Japanese gamers, Toriyama and Yamagiwa confirm FromSoftware has several new projects in development. No names were mentioned but the producers did confirm the studio is working on a combination of new and existing IP. Best of all, Toriyama and Yamagiwa say the next FromSoftware title could emerge before the end of 2017. Given that Dark Souls 3 was supposed to be the last installment of the action RPG series for a few years, and FromSoftware doesn’t own the rights to Demon’s Souls, many fans are taking the comments as confirmation that Bloodborne 2 is currently in the works.
Unfortunately, neither producer confirmed a Bloodborne sequel is currently in the works. On the plus side, if there’s really a new FromSoftware game coming in 2017, it’s pretty reasonable to assume we’ll hear more about the project in the near future. Even Fallout 4 needed a few months of marketing before it hit PC and consoles.
Bloodborne is currently available on PlayStation 4. There’s no word on an official launch date for the oft-rumored sequel.
