Publisher Playtonic Friends and developer Awe Interactive announced a September 8 release date for BPM: Bullets Per Minute on Nintendo Switch, the first-person shooter/rhythm game first released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam and GOG. BPM: Bullets Per Minute was first made available on PC via the two storefronts on September 15, 2020, followed by the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One launch on October 15, 2021. It would also seem that this Switch port of the game is native to the console and not cloud-based, which is great news for those worried about the input lag. To celebrate the release date announcement, Playtonic Friends launched a brand-new trailer which you can check out below.
As shown in the trailer, this Nintendo Switch version of BPM: Bullets Per Minute adds several console-specific features like gyroscopic motion controls. For players on the system who’ve grown accustomed to motion-based aiming as popularized by Splatoon, this should make BPM: Bullets Per Minute a much more familiar experience overall.
BPM: Bullets Per Minute is an energetic and violent blend of rhythm-based gameplay and first-person shooters; think DOOM meets Guitar Hero. It brings dungeon-based shooter action to the table and mixes it beautifully with proper timing across all moves. Every shot, jump, dodge, and even reload is pulled off to the beat in a mechanic lifted straight from rhythm games, accompanied by a hard rock soundtrack.
This version of BPM: Bullets Per Minute will include all of the post-launch content released on PC, PS4, and Xbox One from 2020. This includes five brand-new characters, each with unique mechanics, three new weapons that encourage monster killing to the beat, a brand-new story chapter complete with its own set of enemies, two new difficulty levels for additional accessibility or greater challenges, and various new items, achievements, and tweaks and fixes.
BPM: Bullets Per Minute holds a rare Very Positive rating on Steam and has been praised universally for its innovative gameplay and the equally impressive soundtrack.
