Bungie is planning to give away several go-roll weapons to Destiny 2 players ahead of a fix for the shooter's unintended weighing of perks.
The situation comes after the developer acknowledged that there was some issue with how the game was rolling the chances for weapon perks. Many players even considered it the worst bug in the history of Destiny 2.
Destiny 2 Weapon Perks
The studio also initially denied that there was any problem, saying that there was no weighing active in the game when it came to weapon perks.
But players then shared data of their results and found that some combinations of perks were much more difficult to get than others.
This was proven by the player-led statistical analysis movement, which forced Bungie to act on the issue.
The developer announced that Vesper's Host, which is the dungeon that players were farming for an impossible roll, will drop both weapons and armor each encounter, according to Forbes.
This is a change that was made to give players an easier time trying to get the perks that they want. It will be available starting on Nov. 19, 2024, and will last until Dec. 3, 2024.
Bungie is also planning to share a list of free PvP and PvE god rolls that players may have missed due to the bug.
One of the weapons that was on the list that Bungie shared is the Rose hand cannon with the Fluted Barrel, Accurized Rounds, Slideshot, Explosive Payload, Smooth Grip, and Handling MW perks.
Free God-Roll Weapons
Bungie also announced that a hotfix was scheduled for Nov. 5, 2024, as a way to correct the problem that players have been experiencing for years. The studio thanked all of its players who contributed in order to uncover the problem, Game Rant said.
Another thing that the developer is doing is giving away god roll weapons if players go to Banshee-44 at the Tower. They will find a small collection of hand-crafted weapons that have been nearly impossible to get.
It is worth noting that you can only access these weapons if you own the Vesper's Host dungeon and have completed it at least once. This is a very welcome change for players who have been farming for their favorite perks.
One of the weapons that are being given away for free, the Chill Inhibitor, was the one that made players first suspicious of perk weighing in Destiny 2. This makes the nearly perfect version available a great thing for those who failed to get it, according to PCGamer.
