Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare has new Zombies DLC coming on Jan. 31, and we're here to tell you everything we know about it from weapons to story and more. Rave In The Redwoods, as the new expansion is called, will be part of the forthcoming Sabotage DLC pack.
Map: As shown in the map below, Rave In The Redwoods takes players to a brand new location called Bear Lake Summer Camp. Inspired heavily by ‘90s slashers, the rural area has lodges, mess halls, trading posts and cabins for particularly brave visitors.
Of course, plenty of Easter eggs will be scattered throughout this floor plan. On that subject, Activision’s Lee Ross said “man we buried them hard.”
Weapons And Foes: As with any Zombies mode, weapons are also a big focus. However, in true slasher form, you won’t be starting with any nasty guns. Instead, you’ll be empty-handed and must work your way through melee items like machetes, golf clubs, spiked bats and double-sided axes. A brand new firearm concept has been shown, but it was teased that you’ll have to play well to get it. It also “does cool stuff to zombies.”
With melee weapons in hand, you’ll be tasked with taking down zombies, psycho killers and sasquatches that enter the area. These threats become even more formidable and creepy in Rave Mode. Unlike episode 1, your enemies won’t just explode and go away. They’ll stick around to stalk.
Story And Characters: Not much was revealed about the story of Rave In The Redwoods, but we do know that the backdrop of this section does delve deeper into the backstory of its main villain, Willard Wyler.
The main cast will also get some new identities. Valley girl Sally will become a grunge chick, while Andre turns in his hip-hop persona for a Nirvana-inspired attitude. A.J. is described as a hip-hop wannabe akin to Vanilla Ice and Poindexter has become a stereotypical rave kid with a passion for Perk Candy. The character tropes from Chapter 1 have essentially been swapped with their polar opposites. Oh, and Kevin Smith from Clerks will be the celebrity special guest.
Music: Since we’re talking about a rave, music is pretty important too. Ross teased that the DLC will feature licensed ‘90s tracks from artists like Alien Sex Fiend and Crystal Method.
Rave In The Redwoods will be available in the Sabotage DLC pack for Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare. It’s set to release on Jan. 31. A stream for the standard game content is expected to air next week.
