Like clockwork, Activision is readying a new Call of Duty title for fall 2016. Earlier this week, veteran CoD developers Infinity Ward all but revealed that the upcoming Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare (but where do we go after infinity?) will also feature a bundled release that will be accompanied by a remastered version of the iconic Modern Warfare title.
Buzz surrounding the latest Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare continued to build this weekend as the very first official teaser trailer of the game released this weekend. Check it out here:
“Make no mistake, we will rip you from the history books. Every last trace of you, gone. You will know loss. We will be the architects of your pain. We will build monuments to your destruction. The whole world will bear witness to this. Our ascension. We will blot out your skies, we will bury you in darkness. Know this and know us. We are your enemy. We are the Settlement Defense Faction.”
The unnamed face of the "Settlement Defense Faction" is creepy, to say the least. Moreover, the teaser suggests that the Call of Duty franchise seems comfortable with continuing futuristic themes despite the plea of many fans to return to its Modern Warfare and even WWII roots, myself included. According to Eurogamer, Infinite Warfare will involve off-world conflicts, with space-based factions and colonies.
A "response" video was shared as well, featuring Lt. Reyes rallying the troops to not lose hope:
"All stations, this is Lt. Reyes, transmitting in the blind. Set def are everywhere, but we still have a chance. We have breached their defences... This is Lt. Reyes. Ghosts are the only secure comms town. Messenger."
To be honest, I'm definitely more excited about a Modern Warfare remake or remaster than I am about a galactic space shooter. That said, it's definitely unfair to rule out Infinite Warfare so soon. What do you guys think? Let us know if you're excited to pick up the new Infinite Warfare or would rather revisit the classic Modern Warfare!
Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare arrives this fall to PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. According to social media, a full trailer of Activision's next CoD title is slated to drop on Monday, May 2, at 9 a.m. PT. Stay tuned!
