Call Of Duty: WWII Resistance DLC releases Jan. 30, and Sledgehammer just posted a trailer for the new content to get fans excited. The previous teaser video revealed DLC 1 offers three multiplayer maps, a new chapter of Nazi Zombies and a brand new War scenario called Operation Intercept.
The trailer has lots of quick cuts, but we’ve got screenshots to offer the best possible look at each new environment. Here’s everything we know so far:
Occupation: This map should look familiar to longtime Call Of Duty fans, since it’s a remake of the Resistance map from Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. The main difference this time is that the map is set in ‘40s France as opposed to more recent times. Just like the original version, this map should play well with sniper rifles.
Valkyrie: Set during the infamous Hitler assassination plot of the same name, Valkyrie has wide exterior lanes for snipers with enclosed passageways towards its center. In other words this map should have something that works toward any advantage. Especially given the current SMG meta, we expect navigation to be pretty tough here.
Anthropoid: Anthropoid emphasizes verticality more than the other two maps. Much like Gibraltar, though, the line of sight to your closest enemy shouldn’t be too far beyond a single screen. For those who’d rather not perch atop the highest peak, there are plenty of tight interiors too.
Operation Intercept: In this War Mode map, objectives include rescuing Resistance fighters, destroying radio equipment and leading the final charge. The French Forces Of The Interior need your help to fight against Axis control. It’s nothing wildly different from what’s already in the game, but at least there will be more options for fans of War to try out.
The Darkest Shore Zombies chapter is briefly featured in this trailer too, but most of the footage has been repurposed from the prior complete Zombies trailer. Read our full analysis of that clip here. Just like its predecessor, this second installment focuses on a unique sense of horror bred in tight spaces.
If these maps are any indication, the Resistance DLC is very much a reaction to fan criticism about the state of the vanilla game. While SMGs will probably still reign supreme in many cases, there are substantial options to make distance combat more effective than in the past. Especially if you’re using the right rifle as a Resistance Division member, you should be well equipped for the task ahead.
The Resistance DLC is the impetus behind the Resistance event happening throughout Call Of Duty: WWII until Feb. 27. During that time, players can unlock new weapons, score exclusive loot and play limited-time modes like Demotion and Prop Hunt.
Call Of Duty: WWII is available now on PS4, Xbox One and PC. While The Resistance DLC comes to PS4 Jan. 30, it will debut on Xbox One and PC about one month later.
