Call Of Duty: WWII will get season pass content in 2018, according to a new Activision blog post. Here’s what the publisher had to say about the DLC:
“Experience the full-scale theatre of war with the Call of Duty: WWII season pass. Continue the epic journey with four DLC Packs in 2018 that include new and iconic Multiplayer Maps, new chapters of Nazi Zombies and all-new War Missions.”
While we don’t know specifically what the season pass will include, the implication is that it will continue recent Call Of Duty tradition. Starting in 2018, DLC will drop each quarter to bring a collection of multiplayer maps and fresh Zombies content. The new addition this year, however, is the inclusion of War mode maps. Since War is a brand new way to play, we’re excited to see how much the season pass helps it grow.
Despite all the unknowns that remain, there is at least one piece of season pass content that has been publicly revealed. As previously confirmed via retailer leaks, a fully remade Carentan map will be offered as a launch-day bonus for those who invest in a pass or digital deluxe edition of the game this November. In addition to appearing in the first game in the series, Carentan was also remade for 2004’s Call Of Duty: United Offensive and 2005’s Call Of Duty 2. Set in France, the mid-range map pits German and U.S. forces against one another in chaotic combat of epic proportions. It’s got machine guns to fire up close and plenty of windows for long-range assaults.
The first evidence of Carentan’s return emerged in mid-September in official art (now removed) featured on the EB Games Australia website. The graphic listed Carentan as a season pass bonus map.
With an emphasis on retro maps firmly established, we can’t wait to see which beloved arenas Sledgehammer reintroduces. Is it possible we’ll see Brecourt or even Pacific locales like Makin Day in a brand-new engine? Of course there’s always the possibility of newer maps being designed with a World War II aesthetic as well. Especially given the developer’s Modern Warfare heritage, we wouldn’t mind seeing a few of those come back too.
Call Of Duty: WWII comes to PS4, Xbox One and PC Nov. 3. Season pass pricing and release dates have not been announced.
