Marvel Studios held its annual Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con and one of the biggest news stories to come out of that panel is about the details surrounding Captain Marvel, starring Brie Larson.
Kevin Feige revealed during the panel that Captain Marvel will take place in the 90s, which sets the film before the first Iron Man movie. It was also revealed that Samuel L. Jackson will reprise his role as Nick Fury in the film but will not have an eye patch. Perhaps we’ll finally get to see what happened to the director of SHIELD.
But the biggest reveal was when concept art of Captain Marvel was shown. It gave fans in attendance a taste at Captain Marvel’s style and a look at who, or what, she'll be fighting.
The Skrulls were confirmed to be the villains of the upcoming Captain Marvel movie, which is a huge deal if you know who the green aliens are. Before we go into that, check out the concept art of Captain Marvel fighting the Skrulls below.
Fans of the MCU should be familiar with the Kree, the blue aliens that were a big part of the series, Agents of SHIELD. The Kree’s blood saved Phil Coulson’s life and they are the reason the Inhumans are in the MCU.
The Kree were also a big part of the first Guardians of the Galaxy as the big bad, Ronan, was a Kree extremist. Well, the Skrulls are the mortal enemy of the Kree. While the Kree are more intellectual and scientific in their methods, the Skrull are more violent and have shape-shifting abilities.
The Skrulls inclusion in the MCU can lead to a bevy of storyline possibilities moving forward, so to say it’s a big deal that the Skrulls will be introduced is not hyperbole.
Captain Marvel has a release date of March 8, 2019.
