Good news for OG fans! Looks like the Dota 2 team is joining The International 2021 in full force. Sébastien “Ceb” Debs has apparently been cleared and set to join his teammates for a possible three-peat.
This was confirmed by OG through a tweet as well as a video which you can watch below:
Medical Emergency
Late last week, it was revealed by the team that Ceb was diagnosed with an eye condition and needed to undergo surgery. He was immediately flown to France to have that surgery and the procedure went smoothly.
However, the problem was whether Ceb would be cleared by his doctor to play in TI10. While OG would benefit from him being part of the team, it was also important to make sure that he was not in any danger.
Stand-in from Liquid
Just in case Ceb wouldn’t be cleared, OG asked Team Liquid’s Michael “Micke” Vu. There’s no question that they were indeed fortunate when Liquid agreed.
This piece of news, however, didn’t surprise some in the Dota 2 community. That’s because a few days prior rumors were going around that OG was getting Micke as a stand-in for Ceb. In fact, the same rumors went as far as claiming that OG was vying to get Ivan “MinD_ContRoL” Ivanov. This actually makes sense considering he has a similar playstyle to Ceb and can even use some of Ceb’s heroes.
So what happens to Micke? Turns out he’s a good sport and even tweeting that he “didn’t need to play like Ceb.”
Road to TI
OG may have a complete roster, so to speak, but its journey for a three-peat is both long and hard. The team hasn’t been performing well for the new DPC season and had to go through the qualifiers to get to TI.
Even with a small chance of winning, it’s never good to count OG out. When they first won TI, they were the first team to do it through an Open Qualifier. So, this situation isn’t that different from before. They even managed to find two good members as a replacement.
What about you? What do you think are OG’s chances for TI10?
