Chance The Rapper was a guest on Pharrell’s OTHERtone Beats 1 Radio show this weekend and the Chicago rapper made a big announcement: Chance will host his very own Beats 1 Radio show. But for fans, the Apple Music exclusive radio debut isn’t what’s most exciting. More importantly, what we want to know is will Chance use this new platform to share the sequel to Acid Rap?

Chance’s last project was a collaboration with Lil B on Free Based Freestyles , which released in August. Just 3 months earlier, Chance blessed us with Surf, an album with Donnie Trumpet & The Social Experiment. The subtle jazzy complexity of Surf speaks for itself and proves Chance has the musical capacity to master just about any sound. So what’s in store for Acid Rap 2 aka #ThirdMixtape?

Chance has released two singles rumored to be on his third mixtape. Listen to “Angels” feat. Saba and “Somewhere in Paradise” feat. Jeremih & R. Kelly, which released on Soundcloud with the hashtags #AcidRap and #ThirdMixtape. He has also teased a new song via Snapchat late January.

Pharrell and Scott Vener (Music Selector behind Entourage, How To Make It in America, and Dope) talked about police brutality, fatherhood, free music, and the Chicago music scene with Chance The Rapper on OTHERtone. Chance didn’t reveal any news about the status of Acid Rap 2 even though Pharrell delicately tried to squeeze out a few details. Pharrell was curious as to why Chance plans to release the 2013 Acid Rap follow-up as a free mixtape instead of an album.

“I was wondering because it’s so good. That was coming from the position of it being so good and not really some throw away,” Pharrell said. Apparently Chance played the project for Pharrell before the radio show and Skateboard P loved it.

“But you know what you were playing us was like….white fire. It was fire hot. There was an element in there, maybe you want to talk about it or not, or leave it as a surprise. There was a very consistent element in it that I was applauding you and was like awe man that’s next level. Because it wasn’t heavy it was just hard.”

Twitter is speculating Chance The Rapper will preview Acid Rap 2 on the first episode of his new radio show. The title of the show could be Worldwide Chicago since Chance has been marking his celebratory tweets with #WorldWideChicago, but the name has not been confirmed.
