A new expansion for Cities: Skylines, the beloved city-builder from Colossal Order and Paradox Interactive, was announced this week. And it sounds like life in your favorite city is going to get pretty rough, courtesy of all the new emergency scenarios being introduced in Cities: Skylines’ upcoming Natural Disasters DLC.
Natural Disasters will inject a little danger into the daily lives of your city’s residents. Previously, fires, crime and the occasional flood posed the biggest threat to your creation. Now, it’s time to find out just how bad the situation has to get before your city fails. The next expansion for Cities: Skylines will introduce a variety of new scenarios, including comet strikes, much bigger fires and an event that Paradox refers to as “the day the sky exploded.”
Here’s what Paradox says we can expect from Natural Disasters:
Deep, Impactful Gameplay: Keep your city going through the devastation of several possible doomsday scenarios, from towering infernos to the day the sky exploded
With Great Power Comes Great Response Abilities: Plan for, and respond to, disasters using early warning systems, countermeasures, and new disaster responses such as helicopters and evacuations – finally, a Paradox game where “Comet Sighted” actually means something
Radio Saved the Video Game: Citizens can go Radio Ga-Ga with a new broadcast network, helping to rapidly spread evacuation warnings and emergency alerts – or simply relax to new in-game music stations
An Objectively Good Feature: Scenario Mode allows players to design custom game objectives, including custom starting cities, win conditions, time limits, and more – and share scenarios to Steam Workshop
Chirpocalypse Now: Heck yeah, new hats for Chirper
