The Roles and Schemes are arriving at City of Gangsters this March through Update 1.3. It's going to allow players to specialize their captains into specific roles.
The new and improved outfits are going to be more diverse as well as adaptable with their own unique hierarchy and feel. What happens is that once a crew member gathers enough experience to be promoted to captain level, they have the chance to work to advanced roles that include:
- Enforcer
- Intimidator
- Jailbird
- Lookout
- Mouthpiece
- Closer
- Accountant
It's not going to be easy since a specialized role needs very specific experience and expertise. Of course, these differ from role to role. For example, if a crew member is to become an enforcer, that crew should be successful at several combat and enforcement operations in the past. Since a captain can only have one role, it's important to choose well.
Each of the roles unlocks role-specific abilities. As the gang moves through the 1920s, players are going to learn that their new captains develop ideas for their own personal schemes. The captains could stage a bank robbery or blackmail a local crooked cop, all based on their prior experience.
But what about the “Schemes” part? These are elaborate illicit activities that unfold over many stages with each stage having several different options and potential consequences. For instance, can the player leverage the scheme to their advantage, or is the captain falling prey to their own ambition?
New DLC
Releasing alongside Update 1.3 is the Criminal Record DLC. It introduces extra roles and schemes into the game as well as new content.
It also unlocks the city of Philadelphia, which has a unique starting condition that players will love. In addition, the DLC lets players set up an office, among others, regardless of what city they pick.
