Clash Of Clans is turning five, and to celebrate the occasion, Supercell has kicked off an Anniversary Event. Expect to score tons of loot over the next week, because clashers get three boosts each day. That essentially means all resource collectors for gold, elixir and dark elixir produce their goods at double capacity. The event was announced via Twitter early Wednesday morning.
“For a limited time, boost your resource collectors for one gem each,” the post reads, while reminding the game’s passionate fan base to have a “happy fifth Clashiversary.”
The one-gem boost honestly doesn’t alter strategy too much. It just takes the central aspects of the game and cranks them up a notch. Loot collection from victories will be doubled, but it’s going to be twice as hard to work your way past the spells of your opponent. Plus, since folks will be spending a lot less on boosts than they normally would, those funds can be allocated elsewhere. Our best piece of advice is to remember that the anniversary boosts are happening daily. Others will be taking advantage of them, so you must as well.
Another quick tip is to possibly stop all lengthy building upgrades for the time being. While that would be a silly thing to do in any normal circumstance, canceling your upgrade and getting some resources back will allow you to take advantage of the boost sooner. At double capacity, the boost would offer better results anyhow. If you have a quiet window in between boosts, maybe try to upgrade then.
While a one-gem boost is obviously a highly-appreciated perk, however, we have to say we were expecting a little more for Clash Of Clans’ fifth anniversary. Leaks that now appear to be false had suggested the arrival of new troops, defenses and even themed objects. Five years of popularity is a massive achievement that only happens once in a game’s existence. A one-gem boost is the kind of promotion typically offered during yearly holidays or when Supercell needs to apologize for something. The celebration will carry on for the rest of the week, though, so maybe another surprise is on the way.
Clash Of Clans first made its debut Aug. 2, 2012, on iOS and was released on Android a little more than a year later. In that span of time, the builder has reportedly worked for nearly 2 trillion hours to earn 44 billion three-star victories. Town Halls have also been destroyed over 100 billion times and walls have fallen 4 trillion times. In other words, lots of people have been playing Clash Of Clans since it first graced the App Store and pioneered the mobile strategy genre.
While we haven’t seen a substantial update for Clash Of Clans since the first major Builder Hall patch went live at the end of June, Supercell has teased major Clans Wars matchmaking changes are coming in the near future. They ensure those with engineered bases only play against those with a similar troop setup.
Clash Of Clans is available now on Android and iOS. The Anniversary Event will run through next Wednesday.
