Curren$y has clearly mastered his work flow. The NOLA rapper may have just released Canal St Confidential, but seeing he spits out projects like he does bars he's been busy since Dec. 4. Curren$y, aka Spitta, dropped The Owner's Manual Jan. 19 and now he’s set a Feb. 14 release date for The Carrollton Heist, a joint project with The Alchemist and a follow-up to their 2011 collab, Covert Coup. Spitta also released the album’s artwork along with a new song, “Mo’ Money” on Soundcloud.
During a Periscope session, Curren$y said he’s looking for three features on the new album some fans are calling Covert Coup 2. He said he’s asked Lil Wayne to drop a verse, and also wants Jadakiss or Freddie Gibbs to join. Spitta revealed The Alchemist wants Action Bronson to drop in for a feature.
Curren$y teased two songs from The Carrollton Heist on Periscope, “Macbook” and “Disappearing Ink,” while he laid back and smoked a joint with viewers.
Covert Coup was so well received that fans anxiously anticipated a follow-up in 2012, although the rumored project dubbed Re-Conversationalize was false. However, earlier this month we received proof the project was just on the backburner when Spitta tweeted the duo recorded the entire album in one day.
During the Periscope chat, several viewers asked questions about a release date for #2009 , an ongoing joint project with Wiz Khalifa, but the New Orleans rapper kept quiet. The highly anticipated How Fly Wiz-Spitta collab sequel seems long overdue, but both rappers have released a steady flow of music since so we really can’t complain.
Curren$y also announced yet another sequel on Instagram, this time to Cigarette Boats, Prod. by Harry Fraud in 2012. The Marina EP will feature Juvenile on a track called “Can’t Go Back."
Curren$y revisited a sound Jet Lifer fans are familiar with on The Owners Manual, released earlier this month. Laced over low key smoker’s instrumentals, Spitta teamed up with Cool & Dre and to deliver listeners a classic car tunes manual in celebration of his latest purchase, a Rolls Royce Wraith.
At the pace Curren$y has been releasing records, it wouldn’t be the least bit of a surprise if he dropped a few more new songs on Soundcloud before Feb. 14.
