You are going to have to wait a little bit longer for Cyberpunk 2077. Today, CD Projekt Red announced that they will not be able to meet their September 17 deadline. The new release date for Cyberpunk 2077 is now November 19. The announcement was made via the official Cyberpunk Twitter handle. This is the second delay for the title, as originally the game was supposed to launch back in April.
CD Projekt Red also confirmed that the game is complete “both content and gameplay-wise.” Everything that the game has to offer, as in all the cutscenes, missions and whatnot, are present in the game. However, given how massive the game is, the developers will need more time to polish the game. The extra time will be used to remove bugs and to make Cyberpunk ready for the new launch date.
“Cyberpunk 2077 is finished both content and gameplay-wise. The quests, the cutscenes, the skills, and items; all the adventures Night City has to offer – it’s all there.” The official tweet reads. “But with such an abundance of content and complex systems interweaving with each other, we need to properly go through everything, balance game mechanics, and fix a lot of bugs. A huge world means a huge number of things to iron out and we will spend the additional time doing exactly that.”
While we are a little disappointed with the delay, we understand that it is necessary. After all, better delayed than broken is what I say. However, CD Projekt Red still has something for us fans. The developers will reveal more information about the game on June 25. That is when the online Night City Wire event is supposed to take place. We don’t know what will be shown, but we are hoping for additional gameplay footage.
The new release date of Cyberpunk 2077 is awfully close to the expected launch of the next-gen consoles. CD Projekt Red has confirmed that their game will launch on the new consoles at some point, but the release date for the next-gen port is still unknown.
A multiplayer component for Cyberpunk 2077 is also planned, which will release sometime after 2021.
