Two of the most celebrated and popular action role-playing games (RPG) games in the industry, "Cyberpunk 2077" and the "Grand Theft Auto" franchise, are now being fused into one game that is coming later this year.
It is courtesy of none other than Rockstar North's Leslie Benzies, a renowned former lead in the development studio's latest game "Grand Theft Auto V."
The latest teaser talked about what the game will deliver, and while it is set to deliver more of what "Cyberpunk 2077" offered with its futuristic dystopian world-building and special elements, "Grand Theft Auto" will still play a big role in the game.
'Cyberpunk 2077 x GTA' Game Teased; Coming This Summer 2025
One of the biggest games of 2025 may have been unveiled in the recent PlayStation State of Play event with "MindsEye" taking center stage as another gritty action RPG that is set to deliver promising experiences for users. It was referred to as a cross between "Cyberpunk 2077" and "Grand Theft Auto" as it features futuristic technology used by the lead character while traversing a Los Santos-like area.
The recent trailer showed off what "MindsEye" is all about, introducing a new male lead for players to enjoy when exploring the game as Jacob Diaz, a former soldier who has been fitted with the so-called "MindsEye" neural implant.
The game centers on the theme of AI use, particularly its high-tech use in experimentation that is severely affecting humans.
Rockstar North's 'GTA V' Lead Created 'MindsEye'
The game came from the one and only former "GTA V" lead and Rockstar North's Leslie Benzies together with the studio, Build a Rocket Boy, focusing on an action-adventure game set in the fictional city of Redrock.
Benzies claimed that the game focuses on a high-octane driving experience as well as explosive combat to enjoy, making these elements a central part of "MindsEye."
'Cyberpunk 2077' and 'GTA'
There have been massive comparisons between "Cyberpunk 2077" and "Grand Theft Auto" as both offer an action RPG experience with a dedicated story mode and free roaming experience. However, "Grand Theft Auto" is more of a sandbox game than an open world, and this focuses on allowing users to freely explore the game, combined with many side quests or missions to do.
On the other hand, CD Projekt Red's "Cyberpunk 2077" focuses more on an action RPG which also offers an open world for players that flopped during its initial release all these years ago until its highly celebrated DLC. Additionally, "Cyberpunk 2077" offers more of a dystopian future setting where technology has been an integral part of lives, centering on enhanced humans roaming the game.
That being said, both games offer gritty action and the ability to control one's fate even in its story mode, with Rockstar Games and CD Projekt Red receiving multiple recognitions for their development.
