Without fail, every year since Daft Punk’s critically-acclaimed Alive 2007 tour, Daft Punk tour rumors have unfortunately been exactly that, rumors. Reports have previously claimed/theorized the duo are going to play Coachella, Lollapalooza , etc. but an official Daft Punk announcement hasn’t materialized.
Now Daft Punk 2017 rumors are heating up. Last week, fans went crazy after claims Daft Punk was seen on a supposed flyer for Lollapalooza Chile as well as a landing page on the Lolla’s main website. This week, reddit users have discovered an Alive 2017 website with a countdown clock.
While skeptical, the reddit thread says the pagesource points to the countdown ending Oct. 27. Also there is a code a numbers, which redditors claim are the coordinates for Paris, Los Angeles, London, New York, Tokyo, Sao Paulo, Ibiza and Indio. Are these Daft Punk Alive 2017 tour dates? It’s hard to say with no confirmation from the French duo, but there’s a little more smoke to these rumors than most.
Reports from Pitchfork and Consequence of Sound, however, say Daft Punk will not tour in 2017.
“While there are numerous rumors flying around regarding a Daft Punk tour, Pitchfork can confirm that the robots currently have no shows planned for the near future,” Pitchfork writes . Consequence of Sound sites an anonymous industry source that you shouldn’t get your hopes up for the Daft Punk 2017 tour. Lucky for you, Daft Punk fans, many credible music sites ( including Pitchfork ) wrongly reported last year LCD Soundsystem was not going to reunite and the band ended headlining more than two dozen music festivals this year.
Alive 2017 Daft Punk tour tickets, prices and dates are all just rumors for now but remember the last (and only) two tours did were in 1997 and 2007. A 2017 tour would obviously follow that pattern. Daft Punk have not played live since performing 'Get Lucky' at the Grammy's in 2014. Its last album, Random Access Memories , was released in 2013. Daft Punk has also recently collaborated on a song for The Weeknd .
