Daredevil Season 2 was one huge gory, jaw-dropping action scene. With few breaks between Daredevil getting his ass beat by The Punisher in the first half of the season, and by magical ninjas on rooftops the second half, the show’s best moments were hard to identify amidst mass bloodshed. These 15 highlights had the most impact on the Daredevil's storyline. Since Season 3 is probably a long ways away, these pivitol scenes will help you remember Season 2 forever.
The Punisher Meets Daredevil
Our introduction to Frank Castle was far from pleasant. We witness a room full of Irish gang members massacred, blood splattered everywhere. Of course, Daredevil investigates and meets Castle. The first time, Daredevil gets his ass beat but escapes. At the second meeting, The Punisher captures Daredevil and chains him up on the top of a skyscraper.
This scene is so memorable not only because of the imagery, but it is the first time we see Daredevil’s vigilante identity take over. Daredevil and The Punisher are having what feels like an open back and forth conversation with Castle is calling him ‘Red.’ It’s pretty clear at this point that deep down, the two have no intention of killing each other and it’s really just a battle of their inner strength where they push each other to their limits.
Daredevil Puts Punisher In Jail
The Punisher gets captured and tortured with a drill through the leg. Daredevil saves him and brings him to safety, ironically in a graveyard. The Punisher tells Daredevil he’s not the ‘pussy’ he thought he was originally. The Punisher also shares a few details about his family, specifically about the rhyme he mutters before each shot. The cops show up and the Punisher is arrested.
Elektra And Daredevil Partner Up
Shortly after The Punisher is captured, Elektra shows up in Daredevil’s apartment asking for his help. It becomes immediately clear there are still some strong feelings lingering. He spies on her meeting at Roxxon and stops in for a midnight visit at Elektra’s apartment after his date with Karen. Matt reluctantly agrees to partner up after Elektra is attacked by the Yakuza minutes later. Turns out, Elektra knew Matt was Daredevil all along and said said she knew because, “You can’t mask that ass.”
Stick Saves Elektra, The Hand Revealed
Daredevil and Elektra are in over their heads with the Yakuza. Elektra gets sliced in the stomach and poisoned, but Stick shows up just in time to get Daredevil and ‘Ellie’ out of trouble. Stick brings Elektra back to Daredevil’s apartment and reveals they have known each other for a long time. In fact Elektra works for Stick, the leader of the Chaste, The Hand’s opposition group. “I’ve known her to pull through worse,” Stick tells Daredevil without realizing he’s spilled the beans.
Wilson Fisk Becomes Kingpin
From behind bars, Fisk gets in Frank Castle’s head and The Punisher ends up pleading guilty. The two meet in jail and Fisk convinces Castle to kill Dutton, the current ‘Kingpin’ who had a hand in the murder of Castle’s family. As soon as Dutton is dead, Fisk turns on The Punisher and leaves him in the cell block for dead. To Fisk’s dismay, The Punisher pretty much slays every inmate in his path (see video below) and Fisk is forced to make nice. He finds a way to help Frank escape. Fisk appears to have officially taken on the identity of Kingpin. The first reference we had to Kingpin was when Dutton told Fisk, “I’m the Kingpin of this bitch.”
Karen Uncovers Central Park Sting Op
By this point, Karen is basically a reporter for The Daily Bulletin. The end of the trail went horribly; she’s pretty much out of a job seeing Foggy and Matt can’t stop fighting and she still has a weird fascination with The Punisher. She finds a picture that has another man in a body bag. It turns out the John Doe was an undercover cop and the whole Central Park incident was a sting gone wrong. The District Attorney herself is at the head of the coverup, but she’s murdered before Karen can get much info. Karen heads back to The Daily Bulletin and Mitchell Ellison gives her Ben’s old office so she can continue her investigation.
Nobu Is Alive, Immortal
Daredevil is awed to learn that Nobu, a man he watched burn in a fire, is still alive. We see him come to back to life multiple times throughout Season 2. This proves to Daredevil something fishy is going on. He comes to find out that The Hand is draining people’s blood for some reason that is most likely connected to immortality. It appears The Hand has created an army of child zombies? Nurse Claire also discovers members of The Hand have been sliced in the chest the same way a doctor would give an autopsy, suggesting they were already dead once before.
Kingpin And Daredevil Chat
It becomes clear to Daredevil that Wilson Fisk has plays a huge part in this madness and he visits him in jail. Kingpin smash’s Matt’s face on a desk multiple times before the end of their kind chat. This short scene reiterated that Kingpin isn’t going anywhere and will continue to be an essential part of the story.
Stick, Chaste Turn On Elektra
After Stick saved Elektra’s life, Daredevil tried to convince her that she’s actually a good person. Elektra told Stick she’s done with the Chaste, and because of this, Stick orders a hit on her. She survives, and now she’s out for Stick’s blood. This moment signifies a change in teams. All of the sudden, it seems Stick, Elektra, and Daredevil are all on different sides of the same coin.
Frank Castle Fakes His Death
Frank Castle finds the Blacksmith’s huge stash of heroin, pushes Daredevil into the water and sets the boat on fire. The police assume he’s dead, and an article in the paper even says so. But, as we all know there was no way The Punisher killed himself. Will The Punisher end up siding with Daredevil? There's definitely some chemistry between Castle and Karen, not two mentiont he two have been secrety working together for mulitple episodes. Now that the Punisher doesn't have the whole city after him, maybe he will become more of the good person Karen and Daredevil see inside him.
The Punisher Kills The Real Blacksmith
Daredevil had a hunch the man on the ship wasn’t the real Blacksmith even though he admitted to it. It’s unclear how The Punisher pieces it together, but he shows up to save Karen from the real Blacksmith, Colonel Schoonover , just in the nick of time. After he kills him, he finds a secret compartment in the shed that’ full of weapons. Schoonover and Castle’s beef appears to stem from when they were deployed as Marines in Kandahar, a city in Afghanistan. In Castle’s last moments on screen, he goes back to his family’s home to get a disc that is labeled MICRO in sharpie. This hints Colonels action’s are deeper than just revenge for something Castle did during the war.
Elektra Is The Hand’s Mythical Black Sky
Stick is captured by The Hand, and knowing that Elektra is out to kill him, Daredevil goes to find him in the underground tunnels. He’s able to save Stick, who has knives under each of his fingernails. But not before Elektra shows up. Nobu and The Hand tell her that she is the mythical Black Sky. Daredevil reminds her that she has a choice, she can choose between good and evil. She chooses the former and the three of them kill everyone and escape.
Elektra Dies, Daredevil Fights As Matt Murdock
The Hand isn’t done yet. They find a bus load of people Daredevil has saved to lure him out to fight. Elektra doesn’t think saving the people is in their best interest, but Daredevil does it anyway. She eventually follows him into a battle with an entire army of mystical ninjas. The two are extremely outnumbered and the two finally confess their true feelings for each other. Nobu ends up killing Elektra with a knife that was meant for Daredevil. Elektra dies. Daredevil tosses Nobu off the side of the building and Stick finishes him. The Punisher is there to witness Daredevil finally fighting with his devil helmet off and gives Matt a nod of respect.
Matt Reveals True Identity To Karen
After Elektra dies, Matt suddenly gets the urge to tell Karen about his true identity. He carefully takes his mask out of a crumpled paper bag and shows Karen. About time! We’ve been waiting for this moment the entire season but we don’t get to see a full reaction before the screen fades to black.
The Hand Brings Elektra Back To Life
The series ends with a short clip of Elektra’s dead body resting in some kind of ancient tomb. Her grave is dug up and we can presume The Hand is going to bring their ‘Black Sky’ back to life.
