While EA Sports’ FIFA franchise continues to up their game obtaining hundreds of teams and licenses, Konami’s Pro Evolution Soccer continues to do amazing things. If getting Liverpool FC and FC Barcelona on board as an exclusive partner was not enough, Konami announced that they now have one of the most recognizable people in soccer history joining their team for PES 2018.
Former Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Los Angeles Galaxy legend David Beckham signed an exclusive long-term deal to become the latest PES Legend Ambassador. This move comes weeks after Konami was able to sign Argentine soccer legend Diego Maradona as a Legend Ambassador.
“It is a great honor to join the roster of legends that work with Konami as PES Ambassadors,” said David Beckham. “I look forward to seeing my career represented in this fantastic game, and working with such a talented team of people who obviously love football as much as I do.”
In his 20-year career, Beckham won 19 major trophies playing for five different teams. Scoring 129 goals in his career, Beckham was most dangerous on set-pieces as the phrase “Bend it like Beckham” became a part of pop culture and even the name of a major motion picture. Fans of Beckham will be able to replay certain parts of his career in PES 2018 inside myClub mode.
“David Beckham is rightfully a legend within the game, and we are delighted to welcome him to the PES family,” commented Jonas Lygaard , Senior Director Brand & Business Development at Konami Digital Entertainment B.V. “His fantastic career and all he has achieved will be faithfully recreated for those playing PES 2018, and we look forward to working with him as we unite to promote PES 2018 as the definitive football title.”
PES 2018 is set for release on Sept. 12 for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and Steam. Let us know your thoughts about David Beckham being included in PES 2018.
