Back in December, the Legion of Doom made its presence felt in DC Universe Online. Led by Lex Luthor, their return threatened not only the world but the entire multiverse. That's just the tip of the iceberg since something even more dangerous is coming in April. Episode 43 is set to see the arrival of the Dark Knights.
Who are the Dark Knights? They're a team assembled by one known as The Batman Who Laughs. These warriors of the darkness are the evil and twisted versions of Batman from the Dark Multiverse. What do they have to do with the DCUO ? Perpetua, the first creator of the multiverse, has escaped the Source Wall and intends on remaking the multiverse. She's also destroying good worlds and siphoning power from evil worlds. Making things worse is that she turned The Batman Who Laughs loose to come up with his own twisted realities.
That means it's now up to the players, both heroes and villains, to form an alliance and stop Perpetua and her sources of power. It's time to stand and fight or else all worlds will fall.
In a post, Lead Content Designer Rob "Charon" Frazier said: "The only thing more exciting than getting to tell a story over this many episodes is finally getting to end it." The Dark Knights are the conclusion to the events that started way back in Episode 35: Metal Part I.
Frazier shared that it's going to be an explosive conclusion and involves a large cast of DC Superheroes and Supervillains, with the players at the center. It's going to be a difficult battle since players not only go against Perpetua but also the Dark Knights.
Here are some other details that players can expect in this upcoming episode:
- Dark Knights offer normal and elite versions of all On Duty content, along with level-agnostic event versions available for a limited time.
- The content includes open-world missions and bosses, with a duo, alert, and raid.
- The episode features characters from Dark Knights: Death Metal along with Perpetua, Devastator, Darkfather, and Murder Machine.
- The storyline includes adventures set across the multiverse, including at the Source Wall itself and in a (mostly) destroyed version of Washington D.C.
- The episode launches new player rewards, including gear, styles, and base items.
Do you have what it takes to go against the Dark Knights?
