The Legends of Tomorrow finale will introduce a mysterious new superhero to the Rip Hunter’s team of time-traveling specialists – Suit’s Patrick J Adams. His arrival will reportedly set the Legends on course for a brand new mission after the Vandal Savage storyline comes to a close.

“[The finale] is not just hitting the reset button, it really is modifying their mission. Season 2 isn’t going to be about saving the world and stopping a singular entity from doing evil. We wanted to change the stakes and dynamics to make it an entirely new show – not just with new characters but with a new dramatic engine,” showrunner Phil Klemmer told TV Line.

However, Patrick J Adams’ character isn’t the only person you’ll get familiar with in Season 2. According to TV Line ’s report, two new roles are up for grabs.

The Legends creative team is searching for a 20-30 year old male “who grew up in the shadow of his World War II hero grandfather and has used a Han Solo-like facade to conceal his insecurity — until, that is, the development of super powers enables him to live up to his family legacy.”

Legends is also looking to find an African-American female of an unspecified age who is a member of “an elite paramilitary team living in the 1940s.” TV Line describes the character in more detail. “She is scrutinized in her time for both her gender and race and thus has worked twice as hard to be a perfect soldier. That said, she blames herself for — and aims to avenge — the death of a team member for whom she had repressed feelings.”

While it’s way too early to know for sure, the WWII grandson may be Citizen Steel (aka Nathan Heywood). He’s tied to many characters we’ve met in the Arrow-verse, including Vandal Savage, Hawkman, and Mr. Terrific. His WWII hero grandfather would be Henry Heywood, the original Commander Steel. Both heroes have superhuman strength, durability and of course steel physiology.

The second role in question could be Zinda Blake (aka Lady Blackhawk), the first female member of the elite WWII combat unit, The Blackhawks. She has ties to the Birds of Prey and, by extension, the Black Canary (who was just faced with death on Arrow ). She’s a highly trained pilot (maybe she’ll be flying the Wave Rider?), as well as an expert markswoman and combatant.

According to Klemmer (via IGN) , Legends of Tomorrow is hitting the refresh button for Season 2. New heroes, new villains and a revamped mission. The Legends are done with Vandal Savage, finished running from the Time Masters and won’t have the weight of the world on their shoulders.

It’s unclear if the addition of 3 new series regulars means we’ll have to say goodbye to a few of the existing Legends, but we’ll get a taste of what is in store when we meet Patrick J Adams’ character in The Legends of Tomorrow Season finale May 19.
